Getting started with ActionDrivenNote

Create an action, bring it into focus, work in its document, and keep the context that remains useful after completion.

You do not need to create folders, databases, projects, or a tag hierarchy before beginning. Start with one real action and add structure only when it helps the work.

1. Create an account

Open ActionDrivenNote and create an account. During the beta, the complete product is available for $0 with no product plan limits.

2. Create your first action

Capture something you want to move forward. Use a title that begins with a verb and describes a visible outcome, such as:

  • Prepare the launch brief
  • Compare authentication approaches
  • Research the onboarding problem

A title is enough. Leave the action in the backlog if you are not ready to decide when it belongs.

3. Bring the right work into view

Move actions between the available time horizons as your plan changes. Use Today for a realistic set of actions that deserve attention now; keep possibilities outside Today until they are ready.

When an action becomes larger than one move, add child actions instead of rewriting the whole plan. The parent preserves the outcome while the children expose the next steps.

4. Think inside the action

Open an action to enter its document. Use the editor for the material needed to complete the work: an outline, research links, decisions, code, a table, images, files, or a full draft.

When writing reveals a new next step, create an action block so the action stays connected to the context where it became necessary.

Keep it proportional. A routine reminder may need no document. A research action may need several pages. Let the work decide.

5. Complete the action and keep useful work

Mark the action complete when its outcome is complete. The document remains available. If the action contains material you expect to use again, apply one or more tags.

Begin with broad topic tags. Nest them only after enough material accumulates to make a more specific path useful.
